The SAP Process: Step-by-Step

- Initial Evaluation: A face-to-face (or approved video) clinical assessment to determine the level of assistance needed.
- Treatment/Education Recommendation: We provide a tailored plan for education or treatment as required by DOT regulations.
- Monitoring & Progress: We maintain communication with your treatment provider to track your successful completion.
- Follow-Up Evaluation: A final clinical assessment to determine if you have successfully complied with the recommendations and are eligible for a return-to-duty test.
- Reporting: We provide the official SAP reports to your employer or Designated Employer Representative (DER) and update the FMCSA Clearinghouse as required.

How to Connect with Me in the FMCSA Clearinghouse
To begin your Return-to-Duty (RTD) process, you must formally designate me as your Substance Abuse Professional (SAP). Please complete your initial consultation with me before sending this request in the system to help make things smoother.
Once we have established a relationship, follow these steps to link our accounts:
- Log In: Go to the official FMCSA Clearinghouse Website and sign in using your Login.gov credentials. (If you haven’t registered your driver profile yet, click “Register” on the homepage to set up your account first.)
- Access Your Dashboard: Look at your main Driver Dashboard. Under the “Return-to-Duty Process” message, click the button that says Designate your Substance Abuse Professional.
- Search for Me: In the search fields, enter my details exactly as listed below to ensure you select the correct profile:
